Russian Prime Minister Alexei goncharuk announced on January 17 that he had submitted his resignation to the president, the Russian news agency reported. The Ukrainian presidential palace said President ZELINSKY had received his resignation and would consider the matter.
Goncharuk said on his Facebook account that he had submitted his resignation to ZELINSKY, Russian television reported today. His resignation was related to a recording that had been circulated on the Internet. He said the recording "artificially created the impression" that the prime minister and his team did not respect Zelinski. "Some groups will benefit from this, but it's not true," goncharuk said
"In order to dispel all doubts about the respect and trust of the president, I wrote my resignation and submitted it to the president," he added
According to the previous reports, the Ukrainian media recently released a recording of a closed door meeting with the minister, cabinet representatives and the management of the Ukrainian National Bank. The audio is said to be a voice of goncharuk, asking the participants to help him explain to the president why the exchange rate of the Ukrainian currency, the hryvna, is rising and how it will affect the national budget. Goncharuk admitted in the audio that he knew nothing about the economy and that the president had only a "very simple understanding" of the economic process.
Goncharuk, 36, a doctor of law, was appointed deputy director of the office of the president in charge of economic development in May 2019. On August 29 of the same year, the information bureau of the Ukrainian government issued a notice that at the first meeting of the ninth highest Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, the new prime minister was elected by alexegongcharuk, the former deputy director of the office of the president of Ukraine.
