首个活体机器人面世了吗 首个活体机器人是什么样的

 据国外媒体报道,1月13日,美国科学家利用计算机设计出了一种全新的生命体,他们将其称为异种机器人,据了解,从胚胎青蛙身上提取的皮肤和心脏干细胞,将在会呼吸的动物体内变成皮肤和心脏组织。这种生命形式,既不是传统的机器人,也不是已知的动物物种。这是一种从未在地球上出现过,活的、可编程的有机体。

According to foreign media reports, on January 13, American scientists designed a new kind of life body by using computers. They called it a heterogeneous robot. It is understood that skin and heart stem cells extracted from embryonic frogs will become skin and heart tissue in animals that can breathe. This life form is neither a traditional robot nor a known animal species. This is a living, programmable organism that has never appeared on earth.

这个名叫Xenobot的“异形机器人”,长度不到1毫米,是非洲爪蛙心脏细胞(收缩细胞)和表皮细胞(被动细胞)的结合。结合的依据,是佛蒙特大学的超级计算机集群Deep Green设计出来的模型。

Xenobot, less than a millimeter long, is a combination of heart cells (contractile cells) and epidermal cells (passive cells) of the African claw frog. The combination is based on a model designed by deep green, a supercomputer cluster at the University of Vermont.

研究人员在这个具有20000台笔记本电脑计算能力的集群上演算了一种进化算法。在反复试验当中,用类似自然选择的方式,将性能较差的模型设计剔除。

The researchers performed an evolutionary algorithm on a cluster of 20000 laptops. In the repeated experiments, the model design with poor performance is eliminated in the way similar to natural selection.

Xenobot机器人看起来不像传统的机器人,它们没有闪亮的齿轮或机械臂。取而代之的是,它们看起来更像是一团移动的肉团。研究人员说,这是有意的,这种“生物机器”可以实现钢铁和塑料机器人通常无法做到的事情。

Xenobot robots don't look like traditional robots, they don't have shiny gears or robotic arms. Instead, they look more like a moving mass of meat. It's intentional, the researchers say, that this "bio machine" can do things that steel and plastic robots usually can't.

不同于金属、塑料打造的机器人,Xenobot是完全可生物降解的。并且,它还具有自我修复能力。通过心脏细胞产生的收缩,Xenobot能在水性介质中移动。 

Unlike robots made of metal and plastic, xenobot is completely biodegradable. Moreover, it has the ability of self-healing. Xenobot can move in aqueous medium through contraction produced by cardiac cells.  

如果说,之前的机器人设计都是利用机械结构形成的话,这一新的研究,将细胞组装成自然界中从未见过的身体形态,进行协同工作。这将会是人类历史上一次惊人的研究发现。

If the previous robot design is based on mechanical structure, this new research will assemble cells into the body shape never seen in nature, and work together. This will be an amazing research discovery in human history.
