It's not uncommon for some foreign matters to enter the ear, but Yu Ming, a 24-year-old (pseudonym), recently pulled out his ear with an ear spoon and found that there seems to be something hard in his right ear. When he went to the otolaryngology department of the hospital for examination, the doctor took out an abacus bead hidden in his right ear. According to Yu Ming, the abacus ball should have been "hidden" in the ear canal for 14 years. Fortunately, the ear canal was not blocked. After being taken out by the doctor, it is in good condition at present and no damage to the ear canal was caused.
On the evening of January 2, Yu Ming dug out his ears with an ear spoon after taking a bath at home. He found that there seemed to be something hard in his right ear that could not be pulled out. He asked his family to help him look at it and found that a dark yellow hard object was faintly visible in his ears. The next morning, Yu Ming came to the Department of Otolaryngology, head and neck surgery of Changsha Central Hospital Affiliated to South China University. According to Yu Ming's self-report and the preliminary examination of his right ear, the doctor suggested that Yu Ming should have further otoscopy to make clear the hard object and take it out.
Zhou Fang, head of Otolaryngology and neck surgery of Changsha Central Hospital Affiliated to Nanhua University, said that according to the image seen under otoscope, doctors found a dark yellow round foreign body in the right deep of the right external auditory canal, and there was yellow brown cylindrical crust adhesion around the foreign body, showing obvious inflammation. The doctor took out the foreign object and carefully identified it as a plastic abacus ball.
When he saw abacus beads, Yu Mingcai remembered that it should be the fourth grade of primary school or so because he had put abacus beads into his ears for playing, because he forgot to tell his parents without obvious discomfort. After a long time, he forgot about it. In this way, the abacus ball has been "hiding" in its ears for at least 14 years.
To this end, Dr. Zhou Fang reminded the public that once foreign matters are found in the ears, they must go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible, and be taken out correctly by the doctors. They must not dig at will, which is very easy to stab the ears and cause various adverse consequences.
